New Basketball Courts Bring More Recreation Opportunities to Dr. Margaret Arkinstall Park
Residents in Ward 6 have another reason to get outside and enjoy one of Newmarket’s most popular community parks.
The basketball courts at Dr. Margaret Arkinstall Park have recently been refreshed, providing a welcoming space for residents of all ages to stay active, connect with neighbours, and enjoy healthy outdoor recreation. Located in the heart of Summerhill, the park continues to be a destination for families thanks to its spray pad, playground, trails, sports field, and basketball facilities.
Outdoor recreation spaces play an important role in building healthy and connected communities. Whether it’s a friendly pickup game, practicing basketball skills, or simply spending time outdoors with friends and family, these amenities help create opportunities for physical activity and social connection close to home.
The investment reflects Newmarket’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing parks and recreational facilities across our community. By renewing and upgrading community amenities, we help ensure residents of all ages have safe, accessible, and enjoyable places to stay active and engaged.
I would like to thank Town staff and everyone involved in maintaining and improving our parks and recreation spaces. These community assets help make Newmarket such a wonderful place to live, work, and play.
If you haven’t visited Dr. Margaret Arkinstall Park recently, I encourage you to stop by, shoot a few hoops, enjoy the trails, or cool off at the spray pad this summer. It’s another great example of how investments in community recreation help enhance quality of life for residents of all ages.
