Building a Diaper Mountain Together in Newmarket

There are some events that truly capture the heart of a community. Diaperama is one of them.

This grassroots fundraiser has grown into a powerful local tradition. What started as a simple idea collecting diapers, wipes, and baby essentials has evolved into an event that brings people together in a meaningful way to support young mothers across York Region.

At the centre of it all is Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers, which has been supporting pregnant and parenting young women for decades. Through programs like counselling, education, and childminding, they support hundreds of young moms each year, ensuring they have both the resources and confidence to move forward.

Diaperama directly supports Rosie’s Closet, helping ease the very real financial pressure that essentials like diapers can place on young families.

A big thank you to Market Brewing Company for hosting and championing this event year after year. The team has created more than a brewery. They have built a gathering place where community shows up for one another.

Together, we built a Diaper Mountain.

Thank you to my Council colleagues who joined us and continue to show their support for initiatives like this.

A special thank you to our sponsors and partners including Neighbour Media, Jay Miller, and Two Men and a Truck, as well as Goldie’s Hideaway for supporting the event.

Thank you to all the local businesses who generously provided draw prizes, along with the volunteers, musicians, and every single person who contributed.

This is what community looks like. Practical, generous, and deeply impactful.
