Winter in Newmarket: Frozen Friday and Seasonal Events Ahead
With the Santa Claus Parade and Candlelight Parade now behind us, Newmarket is easing into the heart of winter. cherished traditions brought neighbours together in joyful celebration, and as the season continues to unfold, our next community event is just around the corner. Frozen Friday returns to Riverwalk Commons on December 5 for one special evening filled with winter magic.
A One-Night Celebration to Enjoy the Season
Frozen Friday takes place on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, offering families, friends and residents a festive night outdoors as winter settles in. Over the years, Frozen Friday has become a popular Newmarket tradition, bringing the community together under the lights for an evening that feels fun, welcoming and full of seasonal spirit.
This year’s single-night format delivers the best of the event. Enjoy live music, outdoor skating, the Tim Hortons Express Train LED tree performances, stilt walkers, fire artistry, free hot chocolate and many memorable photo opportunities. It’s a wonderful chance to be outdoors, enjoy the atmosphere and celebrate together.
Guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Newmarket Food Pantry.
A Short Look Back at Frozen Friday’s Tradition
Frozen Friday began as a simple way to brighten early December and encourage families to gather outdoors. It quickly became part of Newmarket’s winter identity, offering a festive night of skating, performers and connection. Today, it continues to reflect what our community values most: warmth, inclusivity, creativity and time spent together.
