The Town of Newmarket recently announced that it entered into an agreement to purchase the Mulock Estate (at the northwest corner of Mulock Drive and Yonge Street), with the vision to transform the property into a community park/outdoor green space. The Town would like to remind residents that the property is still under private ownership, and that there is no public access to the property until further notice. Timelines for construction, access, and a site tour will be confirmed in the future – until then, the Town asks members of the public to kindly refrain from visiting the site.

2018 Supplementary Capital Budget Borrowing By-law for the Mulock Estate

Newmarket Council approved a Borrowing By-law that would allow the Town of Newmarket to obtain a $26 million loan from Infrastructure Ontario with repayment terms of 30 years to finance the additional expenditure of the 2018 Supplementary Budget. This will account for a 2.6 percent increase in the tax base, which works out to $47 per year for 30 years for the average assessed home in Newmarket. The additional expenditure will be used to finance the purchase of the Mulock Farm/Estate located at the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive.
