About Kelly

Kelly Broome is a dedicated Ward 6 Councillor focused on delivering results for residents through strong community leadership, responsive service, and meaningful local impact.

First elected in 2014, Kelly has built a reputation as an engaged and accessible councillor, working closely with residents to advance priorities that strengthen neighbourhoods and improve quality of life across Ward 6. She was re-elected by a strong majority in 2022, earning over 70% of the vote.

Delivering Results for Ward 6

Over the past decade, Kelly has worked alongside residents to deliver real, visible outcomes, including:

  • Newmarket’s first fully accessible splash pad

  • A volunteer-built community ice rink in Ward 6

  • The transformation of the historic Mulock Property into Mulock Park

  • Advancing major community investments including housing, recreation, and infrastructure

Leadership & Community Impact

Kelly’s leadership extends beyond Council through her work across housing, health, and community services. She currently serves on multiple boards and committees, including Trinity Glen Housing, Central York Fire Services Joint Council, and community advisory roles supporting public safety and inclusion.

She is also Vice President at CHATS – Community & Home Assistance to Seniors, supporting thousands of older adults to live independently and with dignity.

Community Connection

A long-time Newmarket resident, Kelly has raised her family in Ward 6 and has been deeply involved in the community for decades. Her volunteer work includes the Terry Fox Run (40-year Ambassador), Women’s Centre of York Region, Southlake initiatives, school councils, and local charitable organizations.
