Kelly Broome is a dedicated community leader and Ward 6 Councillor with a proven record of listening to residents, bringing people together and turning community priorities into action.

First elected to Newmarket Council in 2014, Kelly has spent more than a decade working closely with residents to strengthen neighbourhoods, improve local services and advocate for the issues that matter most to the people she represents. In 2022, she was re-elected with more than 70% of the vote.

For Kelly, being a councillor has always been about more than attending meetings. It means being accessible, understanding what is happening in the community and working persistently to get things done.

Leadership & Community Impact

Kelly’s leadership extends beyond Council through her work across housing, health, and community services. She currently serves on multiple boards and committees, including Trinity Glen Housing, Central York Fire Services Joint Council, and community advisory roles supporting public safety and inclusion. She is also Vice President at CHATS – Community & Home Assistance to Seniors, supporting thousands of older adults to live independently and with dignity.

Community Connection

A long-time Newmarket resident, Kelly has raised her family in Ward 6 and has been deeply involved in the community for decades. Her volunteer work includes the Terry Fox Run (40-year Ambassador), Women’s Centre of York Region, Southlake initiatives, school councils, and local charitable organizations.
