Short-Term Rental Accommodations (STRA) refer to people renting their residence, or part of it, for short periods of time, often through apps, such as Airbnb. Short-Term Rental Accommodations are a popular, growing trend across the world. 

Newmarket is currently looking into the regulation of short-term rentals. The Town is part of a larger short-term rental working group that involves other municipalities in York Region. 

After extensive research and consultation on best practices with other municipalities, that currently regulate short-term rentals, the Town will put together options on how to best regulate short-term rentals. These proposed options will be presented at a Public Information Centre (PIC) hosted in Council Chambers (Municipal Offices - 395 Mulock Drive) on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. Residents will be invited to provide their feedback at the PIC.
